Introducing the classic: Peter and Wendy

Author: James Barrie
Published Date: 1904 (play), 1911 (novel)
Ratings: 8/10

What I like about this book is the theme of "eternal youth" and it raises an issue of viability in reality. I first read the book when I was 8 years old and it is still fresh within my mind. In my country, it was the Disney's animation that rang the bell to the audience; however, I still thought that the children should have been more aware of the "dark theme" within the story, not only the positive perspective. Browsing through page by page, the reader could tell the ironic tone of the author/narrator and, obviously, the narrative complexity as it appears to reflect his/her mental instability (while writing). As opposed to other critics, I'd rather like you to expose to both pros and cons of the story. Should it be valuable in terms of didactic power for all children (except one!), the moment of truth is waiting for you to unveil.
